We also convene experts to offer free workshops on a wide range of topics including navigating legal and financial issues, housing options, and training for informal caregivers assisting people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Just register and we’ll contact you with all the details to dial-in by phone or join by video.

What is Music Therapy?

August 6 at 6 PM
Music and health has been an increasingly popular topic, but have you ever heard of music therapy? Licensed Professional Music Therapists, Ann Fienup and Mia Krings of Greater Chicago Music Therapy, will delve into the psychological and physiological reasons why music is an effective tool to use specifically with clients with diagnoses of dementia and various other neurological disorders, and how music therapy can best support the needs and strengths of these individuals in the community. Case examples and a demonstration will be featured to further understanding of how music therapy works and enhances quality of life.

I’m Going to Be a Caregiver – Now What?

Love and Care Caregiver Support Group

CUB Energy Saving Clinic

August 12 at 6:30 PM
Are you concerned about the rise in utility prices? Join Citizens Utility Board (CUB) for information about how to reduce your energy usage. This clinic is designed to help you better understand the ins and outs of your bill, avoid utility scams, and learn about programs designed to save you money and energy.

Each participants will speak one-on-one with a CUB counselor to review their bills. You will receive information on:
Spotting unnecessary charges on natural gas, electric, and phone bills.
Energy efficiency programs and rebates that can help lower your utility bills.
Decoding your gas and electric bill, spotting errors, and avoiding scams.

Bring your questions and your electric, gas, cable, and phone bills to review with the counselor.

There is no cost for this event.
